Governor Tate Reeves
Elected by the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) Board of Governors, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves assumed his duties as the 2026 DRA States’ Co-Chair on May 22, 2026.
As the 65th Governor of Mississippi, Reeves continues to build on a strong record of leadership, fighting to guard taxpayers’ dollars, improve educational opportunity, and grow new careers so that Mississippi’s families can thrive.
In 2003, Reeves began his public service career as the youngest state treasurer in the country and the first Republican to hold the office in Mississippi. He was then elected in 2011 and re-elected four years later as the 32nd Lieutenant Governor, leading the Mississippi Senate. His management helped fill the state’s Rainy Day Fund to over $700 million—the most in state history—and reduce the overall debt burden.
Since he took office as governor in 2020, Reeves signed legislation that will phase out Mississippi’s personal income tax and enable more Mississippi employers to invest in jobs and better compete in the global marketplace. He has also attracted record-breaking private sector investment totaling over $85 billion and finalized the six largest economic development projects in the state. Additionally, Mississippi achieved an overhauled statewide workforce development strategy, an all-time low unemployment rate multiple times, and the largest teacher pay raise in state history.
Reeves remains committed to his inaugural promise to defend the loving culture that underpins Mississippian’s quality of life and that grows an economy that lifts all Mississippi families. He has pledged to work every day to make that promise a reality for all in the state.
A Rankin County native, Reeves is a graduate of Florence High School and an honors graduate of Millsaps College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Reeves and his wife, Elee, are the proud parents of three daughters, Tyler, Emma and Maddie.
